Coin Store

What is an inexpensive way to store my coin collection?

I only collect Circulated Coins from around the world for personal enjoyment. Only a few are valuable but I’d like to protect all the coins from any further wear. Is there an inexpensive way to seal them up and label them individually?

(Coin stores sell books but they are very pricey.)

Probably the cheapest way to go is to use what are called “two by two’s”. It’s a piece of cardboard, creased in the middle, with a cutout so you can see the coin, and a piece of mylar on one side. (The cutouts come in different sizes to fit different coins). Place the coin on the mylar side over the cutout, fold the two by two over so you can see the coin in the cutout, and staple the three open sides. You can write any information you want on the cardboard.

You can either store them in pages that hold 20 at a time, and keep those in a three ring binder, or you can keep them in a “stock box”–a long narrow cardboard box designed to hold them. Depending on how big your collection is, you can probably store the whole thing for under $10.
