Can anyone answer a question about Tom from the Tom and Jerry cartoon?
So my daughter comes up to me and asks me a question about Tom and the only thing I could do was laugh and say “I have no idea”! So, there’s this episode of Tom and Jerry where T and J are at their usual cat and mouse antics and Tom is under the impression that he’s been shot, so as he’s throwing on the melodrama leading to his death, he begins to flip a coin, so my daughter’s question was “why does Tom starting flipping a coin as he dying?” Well….WHY DAMMIT? Lol! Inquiring minds want to know…
george raft was a movie gangster, whose trademark was flipping a coin. When he was shot, he gave the impression that everything was OK, even though he was dying. The flipping of the coin lent to that illusion
many cartoons reference things that, when they came out, the audience of the time would know immediately, but seems rather out of place today
